A friend told me about these foot peels awhile ago and I finally got around to trying one. I had painful cracks in my heals so I was afraid it would not be good to use this product with the cracks so I put it off. The good news was that my feet felt soft when the 90 minutes was up. I could smell the slight peach fragrance.
I'm now 2 weeks post peel and my feet are still peeling everywhere. My peeling didn't start till I made a point to soak them in warm water for 10-15 minutes which was on day 5. That is the most important step to follow...SOAK SOAK, SOAK! I think I will need to used the second peel to finish removing my thick heal caluses.
I wish the chemical used was a tad thicker...as it is it's like water and easy to spill and leaks out when you put socks over the bootie.
OK, to start, I did not cut all the way across the tops of the booties. I only cut them enough to slip my feet in to avoid leakage. I taped them, put socks over, and hung out on the couch for an hour. After about 45 minutes the tops of my feet started burning, and sitting in the warm slime was starting to become unbearable. I was so grateful to take the booties off and wash my feet!!
My feet immediately felt dried out and uncomfortable, and I instantly regretted doing this. I typically put lotion on my feet every time I shower, so not being able to moisturize was torture. My skin was really dry and scraped my socks when I put them on.
Finally, on day 5, I started to notice some skin lifting off the soles of my feet. Today is day 7, and almost all of the dead skin has peeled off. The skin underneath is actually really soft! Like, baby smooth. And it comes off in big thick sheets, like if you put Elmer's glue on your hand and let it dry. That was kind of cool!
Listen, the end result is great, but the process to get there was pretty unpleasant for me. I'm going to have to wait a long time before I use the second pack that came in the box.
My feet really do look much better than they did before and I will probably buy this again next winter when they start to get bad again.
I took off one star because the top of my foot skin didn’t come off as evenly as the bottom and it was super patchy
Let's start from the beginning now. My heels were badly cracked and I had calloused skin on my big toes and small callouses on the pad of both my feet. These were so bad that I thought I'd need to see a professional to get my feet in good shape. Luckily, my sister sent me a video about foot peels and after carefully reading reviews, I bought these.
Actually using these masks is not as easy as I thought it would be. The booties themselves are fragile and tear easily. They do include little piece of tape to mend any holes and tears you may encounter while wearing them.
I would suggest soaking your feet, patting dry and then moving to your couch or somewhere stationary, put on the booties and cover with a pair of socks.
I was pretty anxious the next couple days waiting for the peeling to start. They do recommend soaking your feet everyday for 20 minutes, which I did. For me, peeling started after the 2nd day. I took my shoes off after work to find skin was peeling around my toes.
The peeling because tedious as I tried to remove as much skin as possible and avoid shedding around the house or while in bed (which made me nauseous to think about). I made the mistake of thinking I could do the "20 minute soak" before bed. I was up for about 40 minutes removing all the skin the water loosened. I did this for the next 3 days until the peeling was over.
While my heals and toes are the smoothest they've been in a while, I am definitely going to need that second pack to get the results I was looking for.
Some tips that we would've liked to have before going into it is:
1. It's going to be kind of uncomfortable when you're soaking your feel. You're literally "suffocating" your foot in a plastic bag that's filled with moisture. As my sister says, "it feels like you sitting in damp socks," anddddd nobody likes wet socks..
2. DO NOT PEEL IF THE SKIN IS NOT READY TO COME OFF. We saw a lot of reviews saying that people sustained skin burns or damage to their skin, and while that may happen (depending on your skin and what you're allergic to), changes are the reason your skin turns a bright red is because you're peeling too early and the skin underneath is still raw. I definitely made this mistake because I was too eager to start peeling, but all it resulted in was the top of my foot looking a bright, angry red for a few days (but it does subside). So just make sure that the skin you're peeling is flaking to the point where it's ready to fall off on its own.
3. The best way to make sure that your skin is ready to fall off is SOAKING YOUR FEET NIGHTLY in warm water. We found that this greatly expedited the peeling process and it was nice too because sometimes the skin would just flake off in the water. (Gross I KNOW but at least it beats you peeling it off too early yourself and having your foot turn red)!
Would we do it again? Probably but not anytime soon... definitely a once in six months kind of thing!
Oh and also, when you first do it.. your feet will feel tight and slippery. That feeling alone is probably why I won’t buy this again.
Update: the product worked amazing on my husband’s feet!! I was pretty skeptical when we put it on him because we’ve tried socks like this before and nothing happened but this definitely did wonders! Amazing! Still really bothered that it’s advertised incorrectly though.
Was I in for a surprise...
Day one. Placed socks over the squishy acid bags, faintly smelling of melted Barbie dolls and...is that mango? Watched a movie with credits. Rinsed. Feet now lingered of molten mango doll.
Day two. Aren’t we the shiner? Feet were glistening like I dipped them oil, yet as the product states, NO MOISTURIZER. Ok, Fam. Mirror foot will just go about her business.
Day three. Behold, a view of what my tootsies will look in my geriatric years! I could be in a lineup for Elders That Steal Footwear, and easily be chosen as the culprit. I woke to find my dear toes resembling a sharpei.
Day four. Is that sand? I haven’t been to a beach since June! Fine granules are now felt as I shower and touch my feet.
Day five. The apocalypse. Kellogg cornflakes peel from my skin. The tops of my feet are the poster child for ashy cracks. If this were summer, and I in sandals, people would run in horror from my leprosy.
The remaining days... skin here, skin there, skin everywhere. My DNA is littered across my household. Removing my socks requires a mask to prevent inhaling the cloud of debris. I have successfully yoga mastered my leg to glance at my heels to see I have removed 5 years of hard damage to them. Yay, I have 30 something feet again! Yet...I still peel. Oh yes, my dear Kumquats, the peeling is STILL HAPPENING.
No blisters. No tears. No cracks. No bleeding. I successfully restrained from tugging at the flaps of flesh on my feet. Should give an award for that, really. Yet, it’s not over yet. The soles are complete as well as my toes, but it’s slowly receding to the tops of my feet and base of ankles, to which I didn’t realize my acid bags reached.
TL;DR Baby Foot peel will make your skin soft. Your top layer of dermis molts off for a week or two. May take up to 5 days to begin to see results. Have vaccum nearby.
The foot booties they provide don't exactly cover your feet entirely, so my next round I may try to do something to make sure it gets my bottoms covered the way I'd like.
My feet are almost thru peeling. There is definitely softer skin there now.
